Today, for the first time since 1985, Michigan's football team will begin its season ranked outside the Associated Press top 25. The team will be directed by a man who didn't know the words of the school's iconic fight song until this past winter -- and still might not, were he pressed.

The Michigan State Fair runs through Labor Day at the corner of 8 Mile and Woodward. It's open 10-10 daily. Admission is $10; $5 for children 3-12, $5 for seniors 62 and older, free for kids 2 & younger. Parking is $7 per vehicle. Ride all day wristbands are $15 on weekdays (except Labor Day) and $25 on weekends (including Labor Day).
